ARTIST'S STATEMENT
To quote the famous Swedish artist, ANDERS ZORN: "I will paint what I know best and what I love the most."
My approach to painting.... I look for design in Nature first. If the design is not there, I create the design using what Nature presents to me. I love how light defines the subject and I love the challenge of how to paint that scene, so the viewer can experience what I felt at that moment in time. I love to paint early morning and late afternoon light.
Cloudy and overcast days present new challenges, but offers longer painting time and allows more time to slow down and think about solving the problems, but diminishes the problem of chasing the light.
My art career began in advertising in 1960 as a Layout/Production artist
at the Atlanta Journal Newspaper. In 1969, I was employed by Lifeway Christian Resources as a Designer/Illustrator. I retired from Lifeway after 23 years, to pursue Fine Art Painting.
